Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is supposedly the safest place on earth. Hagrid said it himself: "no safer place, except Hogwarts maybe". The students security is Dumbledores first and highest priority. Okay, you follow me this far?
But here is where it gets interesting. Because within said schools boundaries, there is a gigant forest with killer spiders and other murderous unnamed creatures. Right next to young children. And what precautions does the headmaster take? He tells the them not to enter it. Seriously? Thats like forcing them to do it in children's language. They don't even bother putting up a fence. Would it be so hard? Hos about that age limit that you used around the goblet of fire, Dumbledore? And then what if the creatures decided to fetch their bloodlust, and leave the woods? The pupils would be helpless. And they are walking next to it all the time, don't they realize their life are in danger? Chop it, burn it, just get it away. Because really, does it contribute to anything good, except hiding gigants?
Also, the teacher in defense against dark arts changes every year. Fair enough. But in the time covered in the books, four out of seven of them was working for Voldemort (you know, him without nose). That is quite a few. And they accept anyone. Just look at Lockhart. He had absolutely no clue about what he was doing. Or what about Mad Eye Moody. He tested dark magic on his students. Sure, this turned out to be some evil perv, but Alastor would probably have thought the same way.
Hello, I'm gonna be your teacher this year. I also hide Voldemort behind this turban. |
Quote of the day:
Dumbledore: "What happened down in the dungeon between you and Professor Quirrell is a complete secret. So, naturally, the whole school knows."
